Citizen-led Quality Boards
Are you passionate about improving the lives of Birmingham’s most vulnerable citizens?
If so, we need your help.
We are looking for ten volunteer ‘experts by experience’ to join our two Citizen-led Quality Boards to help us improve the quality of adult social care in Birmingham. We need your time, your enthusiasm, your ideas and your commitment.
Every day (and night) of the year, thousands of older people and disabled people in Birmingham depend on help and support arranged and paid for by Birmingham City Council. It is very important that this help and support is delivered with dignity and respect, and that people have as much choice and control as possible over their care.
Social care services work best when the people who use them, and their family & friends, have a say in designing, delivering and reviewing them. As an ‘expert by experience’, you can help us to understand what works well and what doesn’t.
Our Quality Board for Assessment & Support Planning looks at the social work service - how we talk to people about the support they need, decide how much (if any) help we can provide, and work out how they would like to receive it. The Quality Board for Commissioning looks at the quality of the support that the Council provides or pays for (including residential care, home care and support outside the home), or that people buy with their own money.
To be a Board Member you need to be passionate about wanting to improve the lives of the city's most vulnerable citizens. We are not offering payment but we will meet your expenses and provide training and support.
To apply, you can download the Application Form and Information for Applicants, below. The closing date for applications is 7th June 2013.
