Local Development Framework
The Local Development Framework (LDF) is the term used to describe the collection of planning policy documents we have produced to guide development across the city.
It consists of our Approved Planning Policies, but also includes the
- Local Development Scheme - setting out a 3 year project plan for preparing new planning policy documents (as well as listing all our current statutory policy documents)
- Statement of Community Involvement - setting out how we will encourage people to get involved in the planning process
- Annual Monitoring Report - a progress report on how we are getting on with preparing our new planning policy documents
Eventually, older documents will be replaced with new ones, but this will be a gradual process. All these documents continue to guide development in Birmingham.
The status of each document is explained at the bottom of each page and we have also produced a guide to document statuses, so you know how much weight is given to the documents when we are determining planning applications.
