General Information
We are a part of Birmingham Libraries and provide access to reading, information, learning and leisure from the comfort of a Mobile Library vehicle. There is no age limit – anyone can join. It is a timetabled service, serving communities in and around Birmingham.
Since June 2010, the Service uses a wireless connection to access the library catalogue and customer records. Using this*, we are also able to search for online/internet/council information while you wait. We can answer general enquiries; search the library catalogue and reserve items for you.
* Please note, there may not always be time to do this if the stop is very busy

Joining and borrowing information
Anybody can join and use the Mobile Library. You do not need to join the Mobile Library Service if you already have a library computer card from another Birmingham Library. Please remember that the service runs to a timetable. Each mobile carries on average 3,500 items of stock. The stock is changed regularly and new titles added most weeks. Each vehicle is fitted with a lift allowing for easy access. Please ask staff if you require use of the lift.
We have:
• A wide range of adult fiction in regular and large print
• Popular non-fiction titles e.g. biographies, war, gardening, local history, ESOL, parenting
• Community language books in Urdu, Bengali, and Punjabi
• Children’s story books, Picture Books, Board Books
• Books to help with projects and homework
•Teenage collections including Manga and Graphic Novels
• Books on cassette and CD for adults and children
• Local and council information: leaflets, places to visit, events, activities
There is a free request service if you cannot find what you are looking for. Please remember, if you use both the Mobile Library and a local community library, the total amount of items you can borrow at any one time is 8.
Mobile Library Adult Reading Group
Here at the Mobile Library Service we have a reading group for adults. Anyone can join but they need to be a regular customer at one of our timetabled stops.
