Cocks Moors Wood
Cocks Moors Wood is located on the Chinn Brook corridor between Cocksmoor Golf Course and Chinn Brook Recreation Ground. The former BMX track lies at the junction of important corridors for wildlife with the Stratford Canal bordering it in the south and the Chinn Brook in the north which in turn is joined by the Haunch Brook linking the site to Billesley Common.
The site has several different habitats including woodland, a small pool and wet grassland, hedgerows, river, scrub and rough grassland and ruderals on the former BMX track. The wildlife value of the area is very high with several protected and endangered species found including Water Vole, Bullfinch. Bluebells and a very rare wood ant. You can really relax, get away from urban living and enjoy a walk or cycle on this site. Motorbike access is not allowed.
