On 15 November 2012 the first Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for the West Midlands was elected. The PCC is responsible for deciding the priorities and budget for West Midlands Police, as well as supporting broader community safety activities across the region.
The West Midlands Police and Crime Panel has been established to hold the Police and Crime Commissioner to account and scrutinise their work.
