Leisure Facilities in Birmingham

Please be aware that there will be changes to the Passport to Leisure scheme as from 1st January 2014. Please see the attached PDF's at the bottom of the page for more details.

There is a wide range of activities available at your local council leisure facilities across the city.

Whatever you're into, taking regular exercise could help you feel better and give you more energy.

Essential Information
  • If you fancy a swim or want to just turn up for a game of badminton, you can book a court and pay as you go.

    If you like to exercise regularly, or like to combine a gym workout or a group fitness class with your swim, you could save money with the Your Choice direct debit membership scheme and enjoy unlimited access at all our centres. Ask reception staff at your local leisure centre for more information

  • Birmingham stages a huge selection of local, national and international sports events every year. These include events where you can watch elite sports men and women perform as well as those where you can take part.   • There are many clubs and organisations in Birmingham which provide opportunities for disabled people. Visit disability sport for more information.

  • Birmingham City Council Sport and Leisure Service is committed to ensuring that children are protected and kept safe from harm whilst they are engaged in any sporting activity provided by this section.


  • Booking Activities Online couldn't be easier and is available at all our Leisure Centres. Find out more about leisure centres including opening times, timetables, facilities and pricing information and classes by visiting our leisure centres list page.

    If you are a leisure card holder, you will need to have your leisure card number and either your surname or postcode to login.

    Non-members/Non-Leisure Card holders may use the guest login.

    Please have your credit/debit card details with you as you will be asked to make a payment before the booking can be submitted.

  • The Be Active Scheme is a free scheme open to Birmingham residents. We are working in partnership with Birmingham Public Health to offer all Birmingham residents free swimming, group exercise classes and gym sessions at certain times at various leisure centres and parks. The scheme is currently ongoing.

  • Be active out and about

    England and Wales Cricket Board, Rounders England and Birmingham City Council are working in partnership to provide communities access to free activity in parks and open spaces. A number of cricket and rounders bags are being placed at a variety of parks and open spaces around the city from Friday 26 August 2011.

  • Why not take the dogs or the kids for a walk in the park, just take a stroll or follow one of the many marked walking routes available. All the walks are free and a great way to stay active and get fit. Why not join a walking group and make new friends along the way.

    Many of the 2K & 5K routes are accessible for those with a disability or for families with pushchairs, although we do suggest that disabled people and families with pushchairs contact the Ranger Service prior to their visit for details on accessibility and ground conditions.

  • With no joining fees or hidden extras, the scheme offers great savings on a range of fitness activities:

    • choice of 3 membership options to suit individual needs
    • access to 23 gyms and 14 pools
    • over 500 fitness classes a week across our centres
    • free induction, if you use our gyms
    • access to saunas at certain centres
    • regular reviews
    • fully-qualified staff

    Birmingham City Council offers a Corporate membership package to businesses with ten or more employees joining - a 20% discount off standard Your Choice monthly membership prices applies.
