Hazardous Waste
In public places
If you find hazardous or toxic waste in public places you should contact us immediately on:
0121 303 1112 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday
0121 303 4149 8pm to 8am, seven days a week.
Please make sure you have as much information as possible. We will follow the necessary procedures and offer the relevant advice from the Environment Agency.
If you get through to an answer phone, please leave your name, address, telephone number and as much information as possible about the waste, including its exact location.
In or on commercial premises
If you find hazardous or toxic waste in or on commercial premises, please contact the Environment Agency on 0870 850 6506.

Hazardous household waste includes things such as:
- Paint
- Paraffin
- Fence treatments
- Garden chemicals
- Adhesives
You can take small amounts (up to six 2.5 litre containers) to your local Household Recycling Centre, provided they are stored in containers and you can transport them safely.
For larger amounts, contact the waste disposal team on 0121 303 7358 who will be able to advise you on arranging safe disposal.

If they are small amounts (up to 6x2.5 litres) and can be safely transported, you can take them to your local household recycling centre. For large amounts of hazardous waste you need to contact the waste disposal unit on 0121 303 7358.
