You can submit your comments to us using Planning Online. Search for the application and click on ‘Add Comments Here’. During the consultation period, planning application plans and documents are also available to view on Planning Online.
-
Comments received must relate to planning matters. These include:
- Loss of privacy
- Loss of light
- Intensity of development
- Design and appearance
- Highway matters, such as traffic and parking
- Impact on community facilities
We cannot take into account:
- Loss of property value
- Commercial competition
- Loss of view
- Disturbance during building work
- Land ownership disputes
-
If you make comments on a planning application, we do not currently publish these online, however they are available for inspection by the public and copies provided on request. Therefore you might like to ensure phone numbers, signatures and email addresses are omitted.
If you are requesting to speak at Planning Committee we may need to pass on your contact details to other speakers who have requested to speak on the same application. This is because there is a combined total of 3 minutes for all objectors to make their public address and the same for supporters of the application. Sharing the contact details allows requestors to collaborate a response together .

We usually give 3 weeks for comments on a planning application, although in practice we accept comments up until the day the application is decided. We cannot guarantee, however, that late comments will be considered. The consultation end date is given in our letters, or any site notices and newspaper adverts, and on Planning Online.
-
The application number is on the consultation letter, or any site notice or newspaper advert. If you do not know it, you can search Planning Online for the site address.
-
If you are housebound, need an interpreter, or have a disability that makes it difficult to view or understand the plans, please contact us and we will arrange further help.
-
If you do not want to use Planning Online, you can contact us by letter, phone, or email to let us know your comments.
-
We will make sure your comments are properly recorded and considered. Where appropriate, we will seek changes to the application to overcome planning concerns and if changes are made we will consult you again. If the application goes to the Planning Committee, we will tell them your comments. In all cases we will let you know the decision. Any comments made are available for public inspection, although not currently published to our Planning Online website.
