Birmingham Register Office - Registering a Death

When someone dies you need to register his or her death at the Register Office in the area where the death took place.
The death should be registered within 5 days of when it took place, unless the death has been referred to the coroner.

The coroner’s office will advise you of the procedure and possible time frames. Once the coroner has told you that you can register the death please call us on 0121 675 1004 or 0121 675 2902 or 0121 675 2904 to make an appointment.
