Commissioning Strategy for Older People's Services 2005 - 2010
The Strategy identifies how services for older people will be delivered in Birmingham in the future and is based on comments received from older people and carers at consultation events last year. It also includes services which fall in line with national priorities.
The Commissioning Strategy for older people outlines a vision for the five-year development of services for older people in Birmingham. It builds on extensive consultation undertaken with service users, their carers, staff and all other stakeholders, including other commissioning bodies such as Health and Housing and service providers both in-house and in the independent sector.
The commissioning priorities have received overwhelming endorsement and were formally agreed by Birmingham City Council's Cabinet on the 25th April 2005. These have now been adopted and confirmed in the corporate strategy for care of older citizens.
The strategy is designed to transform services to meet the changing needs and the rising expectations of older people and their carers, as well as satisfying new national policies and standards.
