Output Areas

Output Areas (OAs) are the smallest area for which statistics are available from the 2001 Population Census. There are 3,127 OAs in Birmingham, with a population size of around 300. The National Statistics Office has published classifications for each OA, by grouping them into a three tier hierarchy according to their characteristics. Read more in the briefing below.
