  • All lessons at B.I.T.C are structured using a court situation and tactical intention in line with the latest LTA guidelines. This means that every lesson is delivered so that all technique is learnt in conjunction with a tactical intention so that the skill is easily transferrable in to a match situation.

    Adult Beginner:

This class is aimed at players who have never played the game before or who are coming back to it after a long absence. The main aim of the course is to give all players the ability to “Serve, Rally and Score” so that they leave with the ability to PLAY tennis. The basic techniques for forehand, backhand, volley and serve are all covered with the emphasis on learning these skills within the framework of the game.

    Beginner

    • Monday 1900 - 2000
    • Tuesday 2100 - 2200
    • Thursday 1900 - 2000

    Adult Improver:

For players who have a little more playing experience and are looking to learn some slightly more advanced techniques. This course covers the same shots in greater detail so that you can add more variety to your game as well as covering some slightly more specialist shots. The course will also cover a wider variety of tactical intentions helping you to build points and become a better match player not just a better “hitter.”

    Improver

    • Tuesday 2000 - 2100
    • Wednesday 2000 - 2100
    • Thursday 0930 - 1100 & 2000 - 2100

    Women's Intermediate

    • Thursday 1100 - 1230
  • This course is aimed at players who want to train rather than be taught. This means that the coach will set up exercises that are there to improve your game through repetition and practise and also to improve your tactical understanding of the game. Whilst the coach will be there to help make some changes to technique the main focus is on hitting lots and lots of shots.

    Drills & Tactics

    • Monday 2000 - 2100
    • Tuesday 1900 - 2000
    • Wednesday 2100 - 2200
  • Red ball mini tennis is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on smaller courts with shorter rackets and softer balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.

At Billesley Tennis Centre mini red is split into 3 separate groups. Mini Tot’s is aimed at pre-school children, at just 30 minutes the timescale is suited to the shorter attention span at that age. The sessions aim to increase receiving skills as well as develop their ABC’s (Agility, Balance and Co-ordination). Mini red is for players who have come up from the tot’s classes or who are just starting out. Red improver is for more experienced players who can rally the ball in the full red court but are not yet ready for the larger orange court.

    Mini Tots

    • Monday 4.00 - 4.30pm
    • Thursday 4.00 - 4.30pm
    • Saturday 9.00 - 9.30am

    • Thursday 5.15 - 6.00pm
    • Saturday 10.15 - 11.00am
  • Orange ball mini tennis is for players aged 8 and 9. It is played on slightly larger courts than red ball, with bigger rackets and balls that are not as soft as red balls. It’s the next stage to go through before you start playing on a full sized court and it will help players develop all the different shots, providing fun competition.

    Mini Orange

    • Monday 5.15 - 6.00pm
    • Wednesday 5.15 - 6.00pm
    • Friday 5.15 - 6.00pm
    • Saturday 10.15 - 11.00am
  • Green ball (10 years of age) is the next step after orange ball mini tennis. It is played on a full tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls that are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage to go through before you start playing with a full compression yellow ball on a full sized court and it will help players work on and improve all aspects of their game.

    Mini Green

    • Tuesday 5.00 - 6.00
    • Saturday 11.00 - 12.00pm

  • Yellow ball is for players aged 11 and over. It is played on a full tennis court, with full size rackets and full compression yellow balls. It’s the last stage of your tennis development and the technique and skills that you have developed through the stages of mini tennis can now be put into practice.
