The Shard End Community Centre and Sports Hall is a place where everybody can find something to do, if you like sporting activities Football, Badminton, Netball, Basketball, Cricket and Bowls are all available.
If you want to keep fit you might want to try out one of the Centre’s two Gyms. Our Cardio Vascular FitnessGym is designed to accommodate everyone from beginner to athlete. Our Zero Impact Easy-Gym is Ideal for people with Muscle tone problems, Osteoporosis, Mobility problems, Joint problems and Poor posture. Easy-Gym offers a total body work-out without overstressing joints or muscles our machines work your muscles rather than you working the machine. Use all 6 machines and get a total body work-out.
If you do want to lose some weight then why not come along to one of the Centres Slimming Clubs and supplement it with one of our daytime or evening Aerobic classes. The exercise on Prescription Scheme is for people who want to be more active to improve their health. Ask your GP or Practice Nurse to see whether your Surgery is involved in the Scheme. Alternatively why not come in to the Centre and ask for the Health and Fitness Advisor.
Of course sports and fitness is not the only activities we provide, we are also very much a Community Centre with local people coming in and taking advantage of our many other activities and facilities. The Shard End Community Centre and Sports Hall is truly and honestly serving its local Community - it’s the place for everyone.

We have a recording studio that was professionally designed to offer a comfortable and relaxing environment for high quality sound production activities. The studio is equipped with both 48 channel analogue and 32 Channel digital mixing consoles. Recording can be done via 24 track ADAT and complimented by computer based audio and Midi recording platforms. Cubase SX and Propellerheads Reason software provide a plethora of recording and editing options. Mastering is available to CD, Mini-disc, MP3 and Cassette formats.
Our new multi-media training room is fully kitted out with 9 high spec PCs along with associated hardware and popular professional music production and sound mixing software packages. Funded by Birmingham City Council and NRF this new 50k facility will further develop and enhance the Centres ability to offer and provide basic and accredited multi-media training.

The Be Active Scheme is a free scheme open to Birmingham residents. We are working in partnership with the NHS to offer all Birmingham residents free swimming, group exercise classes and gym sessions. The scheme is currently ongoing.

If you already have a self service account you will be asked to sign in using your details.
If you do not have a self service account you will be taken straight to the online bookings as a non member guest.
Follow the instructions to make your booking.
If you have the advanced booking option on your leisure card you will be able to book 8 days in advance and pay for the court/pitch when you arrive at the leisure centre
If you do not have the advanced booking option you will only be able to book 7 days in advance and will be required to pay at the time of booking.
If you wish to track your bookings (and take advantage of the advanced booking option if you have purchased this) you need a self service account. Sign up for one now.

No – you can make bookings up to 7 days in advance but must pay for the booking at the time you make it.
If you wish to book up to 8 days in advance you will need the advanced booking option. An Advance Booking option can be added to a standard card or PTL card for an annual fee of £15. The Advance Booking option allows you to book courts and pitches an extra day in advance of other customers (8 days ahead, instead of 7).
