Step One: Finding a Job
The current vacancies facility on our Homepage opens up a new page. By selecting one of the search buttons you can see an alphabetical list of jobs. You can refine your search by salary and occupation. When you have found and selected a vacancy, you will be taken to a new page which contains an advert and several attachments. Look carefully through these attachments especially the Job Description and Person Specification as these will help you decide if your skills and experience are suited to the vacancy.
There is also a choice of Application Form to use: a Word Document which can be downloaded, completed and emailed to: ApplicationsPRI@birmingham.gov.uk or printed out and sent to our postal address: HR (WS),Area 12, People Resourcing and In-Source, Birmingham City Council, PO Box 16320, Birmingham B2 2XU. Please ensure correct postage is paid. Application forms without the correct postage will regrettably be returned to sender. or a PDF version which can be printed off, handwritten and sent to our postal address.
Accessibility:- Our priority is to ensure Birmingham City Council Jobs are accessible, which is why we offer alternative information formats (i.e. large print, audio and/or Braille). To request job information and application forms in these formats please telephone 0121 464 1111, Option 5 (8am to 8pm Monday to Friday only).
Step Two: Completing the Application Form
The Applicant Information Pack attachment includes detailed Application Form Guidance Notes, which provide valuable instructions on how the form should be completed. Experience, skills and abilities gained in voluntary work, at home, through social interests and hobbies or gained at school or college can be used as evidence in your application as well as that gained in previous and current employment.
Make sure you complete all sections of the Application Form as clearly and fully as possible. Please ensure that postal applications have the correct postage paid for them as forms received with incorrect postage will not be accepted and returned to sender. In the interest of economy, we only acknowledge receipt of your application if you include a stamped addressed envelope.
Please note, if you have not been contacted within 28 days of the closing date, you may assume that you have not been selected for an interview on this occasion.
