Great Lister Street, Bordesley
Great Lister Street, Bordesley. c.1950
The picture shows the shop of Keen and Carter at 34 Great Lister Street, on the junction with Windsor Street. The picture features some typical advertising of the period with posters for British Bacon and Ham, Heinz 57 varieties baked beans and St Julien tobacco as well as a board by 'The News of the World' promoting 'My Story by Diana Dors', proclaiming it to be 'Dynamite!'. (Not much has changed in the news in 60 years)
An enlargement of the shop front.
The lady standing in front of the shop could be one of the proprietors of the shop from the late 1940s to early 1950s, Annie Keen.
