Birmingham Wartime Photographs
The Library of Birmingham Central Library has extensive collections of photographs relating to both World Wars.
The Royal Warwickshire Regiment collection includes two albums of photographs taken by Captain J.A. Wall in France between 1915 and 1916.
Our first image shows the Regiment's second city battalion leaving Sutton Coldfield for Yorkshire in July 1915.
Other World War One photographic collections held by the Library are of Highbury Hospital and the Home Front.
The Second World War is represented by:
Three boxes of Birmingham Blitz photographs, as well as the Home Front, a Women at War Photographic Album and a Civil Defence Album.
The Warwickshire Photographic Survey also contains 60 indexed images of blitz damage in Birmingham.
The wartime photographs can be seen by appointment in the Library of Birmingham Archives, Heritage and Photography department.
