Hall Green - Book by Michael Byrne
by Michael Byrne
Hall Green was transformed from a rural backwater into a desirable suburb after the First World War. The first Resident's Association in Britain was formed in this area. However, it also had small pockets of industry producing famous products such as Velocette motorcycles and Aldis lamps. J.R.R Tolkien lived for some time in this area and admitted that it provided him with the inspiration for the fictional universe of 'The Hobbit'.
