All about me
I started work as a youth and community worker before training to be a Community Social Worker in South Birmingham. Later becoming a Team Manager and then, Assistant Divisional Manger, for Disability Services in Sandwell. In 2002, I worked as a Professional Assistant to Estelle Morris, Education and Culture Minister until her retirement in 2005. Since then I have worked as a training consultant and adviser in Community Social Care.
I am a Life member of GMB Trade Union and a former International athlete who represented Great Britain in the 3000m Steeplechase event outdoors and 3000m indoors.
Elected as a Councillor for the Kings Norton Ward in May 2011, I am particularly interested in developing coherent local community services which provide training and employment opportunities for local residents including young people. An integrated approach to health and social care including employment, housing, leisure and sport will bring the greatest rewards in these time of financial restraint.
