Arena Central

There are proposals to redevelop the site of the former Central TV studios on Broad Street, owned by Hampton Trust and Central Television. The project would further reinforce the greater Broad Street area as one of the UK's leading leisure and commercial areas and become a major land mark and tourist attraction. This 00 million development, proposed on a 14-acre site opposite Centenary Square, has the potential to become one of Britain's most exciting office, retail/ leisure complexes.

It is proposed that Arena Central will offer private residential apartments and offices together with leisure entertainment facilities.

Work began on Phase 1 in 2001 which consists of a 19 storey residential tower with 387 flats, on Holliday Street. This phase will form a new link between Mailbox and Brindleyplace. Architects are currently working on revised designs for the proposed tower and a masterplan for the layout of the buildings.

The artist's impression above shows how the proposed development could look from Centenary Square, Broad Street. If constructed, the tower in the background would be one of the largest in the UK.
