Road Safety for Older Road Users
Did you know that elderly pedestrians are one of the most vulnerable groups using our roads? An accident resulting in slight injuries to a young adult pedestrian may prove serious or even fatal to an elderly person.
To address this and to raise awareness of road safety for the older citizens of Birmingham, the Road Safety Education Team is now offering free road safety sessions. The sessions include a road safety presentation, advice and a fun, interactive game of road safety picture bingo.
Several events have already taken place at Age Concern venues, day centres, community centres and at church groups during recent months, with more events planned.
The feedback from participants has been very positive with road safety bingo proving to be a real hit!
Each participant receives a leaflet giving road safety advice and a key ring, with the reminder to ‘stay safe’. The lucky bingo winner also goes home with a road safety prize!
