When will I know what school my child has been offered?
Who needs to apply?
If your child attends an infant school then it is necessary for your child to transfer to a different school for his or her junior education.
To request admission to a linked junior school or primary school, all parents/carers must apply online or complete a ‘Transfer from Year 2 to Year 3' Local Authority Preference Form
Paper application forms can be obtained from infant schools and the School Admissions and Pupil Placements Service.

Please note, if your child already attends a primary school then it is not necessary for him or her to transfer to a different school. Your child will automatically transfer to Year 3 at the same school.
Community schools – Oversubscription criteria for Year 2 to Year 3 Transfer
Where there are more applications than there are places available, places will be offered based on the following order of priority:
1. Looked after or previously looked after children.
2. Linked Schools: Children who will be attending the linked Infant School at the time of application and will still be in attendance at the end of Year 2.
3. Children (siblings) with a brother or sister already at the Infant/Junior School and who will still be in attendance at the time the sibling enters the school.
4. Children who live nearest the school.
Hall Green Junior – Oversubscription criteria for Year 2 to Year 3 Transfer
Where there are more applications than there are places available, places will be offered based on the following order of priority:
1. Looked after or previously looked after children.
2. Children attending Hall Green Infant School Children who will be attending the School at the time of the application and will still be in attendance at the end of Year 2.
3. Children living within the catchment area of the school who will have a brother or sister in attendance at the school at the time of admission.
4. Children living within the catchment area of the school who live nearest the school.
5. Children living outside the catchment area of the school who will have a brother or sister in attendance at the school at the time of admission.
6. Children living outside the catchment area who live nearest the school.
When will I know what school my child has been offered?
Parents/carers should apply online or complete a ‘Transfer from Year 2 to Year 3’ Local Authority Preference Form by no later than 15 January 2013.
The School Admissions and Pupil Placements Service will send out offer letters to all parents/carers who reside in Birmingham by first class post on 22 April 2013 to arrive 23 April 2013. Parents/carers who apply online will receive an email informing them of the school place offered on 22 April 2013 by 3:30pm, one day ahead of postal notifications.
Parents/carers who have been offered a school in another local authority, will be required to inform the School Admissions and Pupil Placements Service by 08 May 2013 whether or not they are accepting the offer.
Parents who have been offered a Birmingham school will be required to inform the school whether or not they accept the offer by 08 May 2013.
Failure to respond by this date means that you are at risk of losing the offer.
