Legal Services - National Recognition

The department:

• attained International Quality Assurance Standard ISO9001: 2000 and the Law Society’s Lexcel Practice Management Standards in June 2004 and has retained these accreditations through annual review
• received the 2006 Midlands Excellence Awards for ‘Most Improved Organisation’ and ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’
• achieved accreditation with ‘Investors in Excellence’ in 2006 and 2009; the first UK legal department to do so
• gained ’Investors in People’ accreditation in March 2003 and retained subsequently
• received the ‘Large Public Sector Employer Award’ for Work-Life Balance 2006 at the Birmingham Best Business Awards
• been named the “Legal Team of the Year” at the Local Government Chronicle Excellence Awards 2005
• received the Association of Council Secretaries and Solicitors “Award for Excellence” in 2005
