Birmingham Cycle Revolution

We are absolutely delighted that on Monday 12th August 2013 the Government announced that our bid to the Department for Transport's Cycle City Ambition Grant has been successful.

We have been awarded £17million of government funding which is further topped up by our own funding to create an overall investment package worth £24.3million.

Birmingham BikeBUDi

Would you like to cycle more but need a little support, or do you just want some company for a ride?

Perhaps having a ‘bike budi’ is for you. A free service, Birmingham BikeBUDi will give cyclists of all abilities the opportunity to pair up with other cyclists travelling the same route. The website will provide basic routes and useful tips to those who register and as the site expands users will be able to form cycling groups, clubs and organise led rides. For more information and to register log onto birminghambikebudi.

Top Cycle Location

Launched in July 2013, Top Cycle Location (TCL) is an exciting new initiative which will enable major trip generators and employers to improve their cycling facilities and increase cycling trips to their location. Those taking part in the scheme will be offered a site audit and action plan leading to a comprehensive level of support, ideas and advice to meet their goals.

Birmingham Children's Hospital has received the first full TCL audit and action plan, receiving board and chief executive approval to implement the recommendations. The scheme has now been offered to 20 major trip generators with 12 agreeing to undertake the process including Brindley Place, University College, NIA and City Hospital.

Brompton Docks

In partnership with Centro, Birmingham City Council has secured funding for 3 Brompton Docks – each dock will consist of 20 folding bikes for both short and long term hire. The docks will be located near to Snow Hill Station, Moor Street Station and New Street Station – the installation of the docks is imminent and we hope they will make cycling around the city a viable option for many more people.
