Birmingham City Council

Support Staff Vacancies

Support Staff roles are integral to raising standards in schools. They are varied and challenging allowing you to make a powerful contribution to the overall success of a school.

Did you know?

Birmingham has a young population with 228,000 children under 16, representing 23% of the city's total population?

In our schools there are 8,370 Full Time Equivalent Support Staff and 5,040 Full Time Equivalent Teaching Assistants.

As schools become more complex organisations, the work of support staff is becoming more varied and demanding. The national agreement for modernising the workforce focuses staff on their particular contribution to teaching and learning.

Working together as part of a whole school team, support staff can make a powerful contribution to teaching and learning.

Our ambition is to create a brighter future for all our children and young people and, as new initiatives emerge Birmingham City Council, headteachers, school governors and other partners will continue to expand the range of services they offer.
