Support for Start Up Businesses
Loans & Grants
We bid for finance from central government and the European Union to help businesses in Birmingham and across the West Midlands. Having secured finance, we then invite businesses to apply for grants, loans or other forms of support and assess them against set criteria for each programme. There are a number of financial and support packages currently available. More details of eligibility are available below.
ERDF Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme A small number of start-up businesses will be supported under this programme with grants of £10k - £100k.
The Start Up Loans Programme provides low-cost, unsecured loans of up to £10k to Birmingham entrepreneurs looking to start up their own business
Finance Birmingham also offers equity funding to new enterprises through the Creative Fund and High Tech / Early Start Fund.
Incubation Space & Business Support
Entrepreneurs for the Future (e4f) is dedicated to supporting the growth of technology companies in Birmingham.
This initiative is designed to help you launch, develop & grow your business, whether you simply just have an idea or are seeking later-stage investment.
Based at Birmingham Science Park Aston, there are three main initiatives:
- e4f.Incubator - 6 months free office space for technology entrepreneurs, alongside mentoring, professional advisors, access to finance and start up resources.
- e4f.Accelerator - a 13 week bootcamp for tech start-ups - funding, mentoring and preparation to pitch for further funding at the end of the programme.
- e4f.Membership - a variety of packages for technology businesses who want to be part of a like-minded community, complete with events, resources and access to support.
Support and Training
If you are between 18 and 30 The Princes Trust can offer you free support and training and you may be eligible for a loan of up to £4,000.
The Senior Enterprise Programme is specifically designed to encourage a greater involvement with enterprise by those aged 50 and over.
