|Access to Household Recycling Centres
Please accept our apologies If you are experiencing traffic congestion at or around your local Household Recycling Centre (HRC).
The congestion over the last few weeks is a temporary situation that occurs every year when the seasons change and the first initial surge of inputs arrive as residents start to undertake household DIY and gardening activities etc.
We are currently working to improve access to Household Recycling Centres and kindly ask for your patience. In the meantime we advise you to visit your local Household Recycling Centres during the following days/times.

Black Refuse Bags
As a result of the council’s need to save £102million in the 2013/14 financial year, rolls of bags will no longer be provided for this service from the end of March 2013. From that point, households will therefore need to purchase their own bags (available from most supermarkets and many other stores) to participate in the service.
Compost bins can be purchased from www.birmingham.getcomposting.com or by calling 0845 130 6090.
The Household Food and Drink Waste in the UK 2012 report has recently been published and updates WRAP’s 2007 ground-breaking report The Food We Waste which exposed the full scale of the UK's food waste problem for the first time. It details how much food is wasted in UK homes, which foods are wasted most and why, and how much that waste costs. For more information on ways to reduce waste or, to read the report in full go to: www.wrap.org.uk/household-food-waste.
