I have been a Councillor for Perry Barr since 1990. I have always made myself available to local residents. I have gained a reputation of being seen walking around the streets where I meet local residents. This I find invaluable because I get to know at first hand the issues in the area.

Because of my community based activities I am able to find/identify the problems in the area and take up and deal with issues raised by local residents.

I have helped to establish various community based organisations which are still operational today. I am particularly pleased with the services provided locally by Age Concern because we had, and still have, a large elderly population.

Along with my Councillor colleagues Jon Hunt and Karen Hamilton I deliver a regular newsletter to keep residents in touch with local news and what we as Councillors are undertaking on behalf of residents.

It is important that we know what residents views are on local services and what additional services they would like the Council to provide. I therefore ensure that we undertake regular survey to identify resident views on local issues.

When we receive an allocation of money to spend on local schemes I always ask residents to tell us what they would like the money spent on. This has over the time enabled us to provide extra services for local residents which is appreciated.

I welcome the opportunity to meet with both residents and community groups who are campaigning for improvements in the Ward. I always attempt to resolve any issues that are brought to my attention from individuals or groups to their satisfaction.

As your local Councillor I am always available to provide help, assistance and advice to either individuals or local groups. I hold regular advice bureau every week for residents to come and meet and have chat with me.

Outside politics I have many interests which cover a whole range of areas including music & dance. The theatre also provides a great deal of both enjoyment and relaxation for me.
